Analysis of different 2D image feature extraction algorithms for industrial quality control applications.
Quality control is basically the main concern in any large volume industries. The larger the production volume requirement, the higher the necessary for automation of the industry. Due to the developments in mechatronics and robotics, quality control is one area, which is mainly going for automation. Depending on the product, sensor, analysis, control and actuation requirement changes.
In our project, we are focusing on design and development of an analysis platform for comparing different image processing algorithms for structural analysis for 2D mechanical parts, like, O ring, washers, discs etc.,.

The project includes the development of a conveyor belt based mechanical platform with overhead camera based feature extraction platform. The manufactured product goes through the conveyor and the image is captured & compared with a standard image using feature extraction based algorithms. If the comparison error increases, an electromechanical alternative is included to reject the faulty product. Project aims to compare different image feature extraction algorithms to compare the efficiency in rejecting a faulty product.
